What a Day of Anime Blogging REALLY Looks Like

This May will mark my 3rd year of anime blogging. Okay, technically just my second. Why? Because when I first started blogging, I had MAYBE 3 or 4 articles about anime and the rest were about mental health. I spent over a year on a topic that was exhausting me mentally and physically. I wanted to write about anime, despite being told that the niche was too small. I even had a different blog name. It was only after a year of failure making progress, that I realized what this blog’s purpose was and what I needed to do for it.

Since focusing on just anime and the many theories, reviews, and such for it, I’ve received several messages regarding what I do for my blog. Hence why I made this post.

The Nerdy Girl News Day in Anime Blogging

First, wake up. I wish I could say that I had a set time that I woke up and went to sleep every day but I don’t. It depends on my mood and what I have planned for that day. Some days I wake up at 9 am ready to go for the day and the others I’m sleep in until 3 pm and then go back to sleep at 6 pm.

Typically, though, it goes like this. Wake up and get something to drink. I’m obsessed with warm water and honey. I’m also obsessed with cute mugs that are perfect for tea and warm drinks so I make sure to pick one. I have some cute animated ones that make the day a bit better.

I should note that I am NOT a morning person. When I worked 7 am-3 pm, even my BOSS wouldn’t talk to me before 10:00 am. I’m just not coherent enough when I first wake up.

Next, I’ll check my emails. I tend to do this when I first wake up and then right before bed. I know I’ve read several articles on how you should avoid screen-light and stuff before bed but I just enjoy it. It keeps my anxiety-riddled brain from freaking out too much.

As someone with major anxiety, a routine helps a TON.

So checking my emails comes first. I’ll answer any that need my attention whether it’s for a sponsored post or someone asking a question. Next, it depends on what day it is. I also work from home as a receptionist and will spend a few hours on that a day. If I get a break from that, I’ll check my blog stats and analytics and see what’s going on with them.

You can just use google analytics for this on your blog. I’ll also check my affiliate stats for the day before to see if anything worked or not. Such as, if I post a new anime item that we have in the store and I’ll share it, I want to see if it’s getting any clicks or views. Then I can share more items like it or not.

The next step is Pinterest. I check my stats with them as well. If you’re using Pinterest on your blog, I highly suggest using a business account. It’s FREE and super helpful. You can track impressions, clicks, and repins. Then I know which pins are doing really well and which ones just kinda suck.

Okay, maybe they don’t SUCK but Pinterest didn’t like them enough to keep them showing so they didn’t share as well.

After a few hours of that (maybe 1 or 2) I’ll eat something. I HATE breakfast foods so I usually skip them or eat something else. During lunch, I’ll just do whatever and relax. After that, I’ll usually go to my receptionist job and do that for the next few hours until 5-6 pm. Then dinner time.

THEN it’s time for the anime stuff.

I’ll look to see what articles are still pending in my draft folder(like this one was) and see if I have any inspiration for it. That’s the thing with anime blogging. I usually have a few weeks scheduled in advance if not a few months, so I don’t blog every day. I just check on them and do blog maintenance. Then it’s Pinterest time.

My favorite part!

I’m addicted to Pinterest. It’s my highest traffic source and I don’t use a scheduler like Tailwind or Board Booster. I don’t want to spend money if I don’t have to. I manually pin everything on my website and boards. It helps me relax and it helps my blog, so it’s a win-win. While I’m pinning things, I might scroll through Twitter and Reddit and listen to music.

After that, I and the fiance will watch Hulu/Netflix/Amazon prime depending on what we’re in the mood for. Right now, we’re on season 4 of Battlestar Galactica.

That’s my typical day but it can be harder some days. Weekends are usually when I catch on anime that I needed or wanted to review, or just thought looked good. There are some days that I get on a blog writing inspiration where it just hits me and I’ll bust 3 or 4 articles done in a day. And then I have the days where I just sit and scroll through Reddit all day eating cookie dough.

It’s about balance, right?

I don’t know if this article will do well. I mean, I’m not even sure who this will help or if my readers even care what my typical day looks like. But I know that it felt good to write it out. And that’s a major part of writing that so many of us forget. It’s about leaving pieces of our soul that will live on forever even after we’re gone.

Anywho, I have chicken nuggets with my name on them so I’m calling it a night. Let me know what YOUR day looks like in the comments below.

As always,

Keep Smiling!
